Judge Issues Ultimatum in Separation Case

A Judge has given parties an ultimatum in a recent case and insisted that they withdraw the numerous bundles and documents, including a 25 page skeleton argument. The Judge Insisted that the costs in excess of £1.3m were completely disproportionate as the assets were considered to be around £1m.

The Judge suggested that the parties reach an agreement or he would insist that all of the documents be removed from the court and he would impose a 150 page limit to the documents each party could adduce at the final hearing.

We think this kind of robust case management was necessary in these particular circumstances. Do you?
