Amal Clooney’s Response To Inane Fashion Question At The European Court Of Human Rights

So imagine (if you can) you are in the European Court of Human Rights, you are one of the top human rights barristers and you are involved in a serious case relating to the denial of the Armenian genocide, and someone asks you “which designer are you wearing”.

Would you perhaps be angry that your achievements are being trivialised? Or frustrated that this isn’t the sort of question a Barrister of the opposite sex would encounter? Well not if you are Amal Clooney.

Amal Clooney wasn’t upset by the question.  She shrugged it off and when asked who she was wearing, responded by laughing and saying “Ede and Ravenscroft”.  For non lawyers, they are one of the makers of robes for advocates. A clever reference to her career and a reminder that she is not just the wife of a Hollywood actor, but a serious and successful woman in her own right.
